    April 19, 2006: BTW Creative Writing students went to Montgomery's Cafe M to meet fiction writer Kirk Curnutt.

    April 11, 2006: BTW Creative Writing's Spring Poetry Reading in the Cellar. Seating began at 6:30. The show began at 7:00.

    April 8, 2006: BTW Creative Writing displayed at Alabama Bound at the Birmingham Public Library.

    February 23, 2006: Twelve BTW Creative Writing students traveled to Montgomery's Rosa Parks Museum had lunch with Diane Nash, civil Rights activist and founder of SNCC.

    February 3, 2006: Ten BTW Creative Writing students attended Architreats to hear Pulitzer Prize-winning author Taylor Branch speak on his new book, "At Canaan's Edge.".

    November 11, 2005: BTW Creative Writing students went to Montgomery's Silver Spoon Cafe to meet poet Joi Miner.

    October 12, 2005: Three BTW Creative Writing students, Mr. Dickson, and 11th grade English teacher Ms. Simmons traveled to Birmingham to hear poetry read by prize-winning poet Li-Young Lee at the Spencer Honors House on UAB's campus.
