  • During the 2006-2007 School year:

    April 21, 2007: BTW Creative Writing displayed their works at the Alabama Center for the Book's literary festival in Old Alabama Town.

    April 13, 2007: Students from the BTW Creative Writing magnet and the Alabama School of Fine Arts Creative Writing department held a joint poetry reading at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.

    April 7, 2007: BTW Creative Writing displayed their work at the Birmingham Public Library's Alabama Bound festival.

    April 2007: Graphophobia 2007 was released!

    February 2007: BTW Creative Writing traveled to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival to watch "Gee's Bend."

    November 28, 2006: 25 BTW Creative Writing students traveled to the Juliette Hampton Morgan Public Library to hear poet Chris Forhan.

    October 13, 2006: Novelist and playwright Jim Grimsley visits BTW Creative Writing. Grimsley is also the director of the creative writing program at Emory University in Atlanta.

    October 2006: "Taking the Time to Write" appeared in the "Around Alabama" section of Southern Living magazine!

    September 27, 2006: Six BTW Creative students visited the University of Alabama's Book Arts program for a one-day seminar.

    September 2006: Graphophobia wins 2nd place in the Iowa High School Press Association's national literary magazine contest.

    September 2006: BTW Creative students win 1st and 2nd places in Essay and 1st place in Fiction in the F. Scott Fitzgerald Museum's High School Literary Contest.
